What is the UoPeople?
University of the People (UoPeople) is a non-profit, American accredited online university. The University was founded in January 2009 by a businessperson and academic administrator Shai Reshef.
The University aims to helps high school graduates overcome financial, geographic, political, and personal constraints keeping them from college studies. Its mission is "to offer an accessible, quality education to any qualified student through flexible, affordable, online, accredited degree-granting programs that give graduates the potential to lead successful, fulfilling lives as individuals and members of society."
The UoPeople President’s Council and Academic Team is formed from leading universities worldwide. According to the UoPeople, the university embraces more than 126,000 students enrolled from more than 200 countries and territories. Over13% of the students are refugees. The university also reported that 78% of alumni are employed and 43% are executives or managers.

Academic Programs
The UoPeople offers online Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Associate’s degree programs. In addition to non-degree programs.

English as a Second Language (ESL)
Each course is 9 weeks long and students should dedicate about 15 to 20 hours per week to each course. It is worth mentioning that, at UoPeople there are no live lectures, and no set class times, therefore you have the freedom to study on your own schedule.
Admission Requirements
The applying process for UoPeople is not complicated; you need to provide your basic information and meet the following admission requirements:
Be 16 years old or older.
Be able to demonstrate Education history information such as high school completion or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
Have proof of English proficiency (for non-native English speakers).
In June 2022, the UoPeople starts to offer a fully online bachelor’s degree in business administration that is fully taught in Arabic. for students wishing to study in Arabic, proof of English Proficiency is not required for admission.
Tuition Fees
Comparing to other American universities who offers online higher education degrees, the UoPeople is an affordable solution.
The UoPeople charges students a one-time, non-refundable application fee of $60 for all programs except English as a Second Language which is $100. Also, students need to pay an assessment fee of $120 per course which must be paid by the end of the final exam period.
The total estimated costs to earn a degree at UoPeople are the following:

MSIT: $3,660
For those who cannot afford the course assessment fees, UoPeople provides financial assistance and scholarships to eligible students. In addition, the university does not charge for books and study resources.
Accreditation
In February 2014, the UoPeople received national accreditation by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). The DEAC is a non-profit organization founded in 1926 and listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency. It provides accreditation from the secondary school level through professional doctoral degree-granting institutions.
Also, the UoPeople has announced that the University has been recognized as an "eligible candidate" for accreditation by WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) which is is a regional accrediting agency.
